DANGERMOUSE AND SPARKLEHORSE

Spotlight

dangerhorse / sparklemouse…..  Poor Mark Linkous, a genius with a tragic story heard Dangermouse when friends were playing him new music to try and rouse him out of a depression, thus was one producer introduced to another…

They co-produced 15 tracks and spent around three years selecting vocalists to work with, in the mean time they persuaded David Lynch to take the instrumentals and use them as inspiration for a series of photos for each track… following so far?

The photos were then used by the vocalists as inspiration for the lyrics, and then EMI decided that they wouldn’t release the work, thanks guys!  Not totally sure why this might be the case, but rumour has it that there was something to do with a distribution deal that had been set up with former Warp imprint and ever creative label Lex… anyway, evidently not ones to let this hold them back, our heros produced a limited edition release package (3000 copies) which contained the story of the release, the photos and a black CDR.

That was 2009.  Skip forward to 12.07.10 and EMI, having figured out the legal mess have just released the album, which features Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, The Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop, the late Vic Chesnutt, Jason Lytle and Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals and is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!

So, here is the first track on the album.   Hope you like it.
