Perenially bubbling under, California’s Cass McCombs has a fair claim to being one of America’s most underrated songwriters. Having released two albums last year, both following up the magnificent “Catacombs” LP, he is also becoming one of the most prolific. He must like doing things in pairs, as this is the first of two gigs at Birthdays (rapidly becoming one of the best venues in East London). So you’ve got no excuse for bloody missing him, have you?
