You may have seen the above video – or one of the several shaky-handed alternate versions – before. It features an East London stall-holder singing about the delights of the very reasonably priced fish he has for sale, and went viral earlier this year.
Well, he has now been signed. To Warner. Who’ve taken the opportunity to fill a press statement confirming the rumours with a slew of terrible puns, claiming they’d “tried rock, sole, skate-punk and drum n bass until they found a style that they both thought was the dog’s pollocks”. Cheers guys.
The single is out on 9th December and is likely to feature Muhammad Shahid Nazir (for it is he) singing his song over a dance beat (bet Simon Cowell’s kicking himself for not getting him on X-Factor). It’s clearly going to be awful, but you can’t begrudge Nazir making a quick buck from his unorthodox marketing technique. Plus, it IS very catchy. All together now: “Come on ladies, come on ladies, one pound fiiiiiiiiish…”
