In these grim, recession-stained times, we could really do with a band like the Specials telling us just how shite it is living in the UK to a jaunty ska soundtrack (you know, to stop us getting too depressed). With Jerry ‘n’ Terry too busy bitching about each other to give us that hit, Misty’s Big Adventure have taken on the challenge and channelled that spirit with this entertaining depiction of Midlands-based violence. There are ‘Ghost Town’ references a-plenty, but this video has a charm all of its own.

As you may have inferred from the title, the song is largely about violence. So we follow Misty’s singer Grandmaster Gareth as he dons a motorbike helmet in order to patrol the streets of “Broken Britain”. He witnesses heads being smashed into car bonnets, discovers dead-eyed fornication behind the bins and gets caught between too lardy lasses in a chip shop brawl (the scene where the chippy owner plays the pickle jars like a xylophone is a stroke of genius). There’s even an outbreak of excellent zombie skanking in an A&E ward. And while Gareth may be imploring them to give peace a chance in the song, even his patience snaps by the end…

Django Django - WOR
This was easily the best thing I saw last time I went to Glastonbury. No, not Django Django (who weren't even playing) but the Wall of Death. For those unfamiliar with the concept, a Wall of Death is a huge wooden cylinder that lunatics race around on motorcycles at increasingly terrifying speeds and angles. Usually while sitting on the handlebars. However, the most mind-boggling thing about seeing it at a festival was the fact that health and safety officials even allow them to exist in Britian these days. It turns out they're even more popular in India. More than that, they're bigger, more dangerous, and they don't just drive motorbikes around them but actual cars too (with the drivers hanging out the window, naturally). This great video from Noisey is almost like a mini-documentary, set to one of the best tracks from Django Django's self-titled album from last year. Centrifugal force has never sounded so good.
