Live Music Act Capacity May Be Increased

Industry News

A new Government proposal to amend the Live Music Act has been announced, aimed at revitalising the live scene in Britain. If it goes through, venues with a capacity of up to 500 will be exempt from licensing requirements, which could allow a huge amount of potential venues across the UK to begin hosting live music. At present, the maximum capacity for exemption is 200.

Though live music campaigner Phil Little of the Live Music Forum welcomed the news, it doesn’t sound like it’s cheered him up much: “It is plain that much of the damage to the scene has already been done. Without an improvement in audience attendance across the board we have an awful long way to go to match the vibrance of live music performance in previous decades”. Jesus Phil, don’t piss on your own chips before they’re cold!

New Bowie is "Classic" - Visconti

New Bowie is
Longtime Bowie producer Tony Visconti has given some more information about the much-anticipated album, announced without warning yesterday morning, revealing that it's apparently been finished for ages. "I've been listening to this on headphones walking through the streets of New York for the past two years, and I have not tired of a single song," he says, showing off. "I think the material on this album is extremely strong and beautiful, and if people are looking for classic Bowie, they'll find it on this album. If they're looking for innovative Bowie, new directions, they're going to find that on this album, too." Lead single "Where Are We Now", released yesterday, excited many but drew a mixed reception in our office: "So dull." "It's just boring and sad." "If only it had been released at 5am, when I was having trouble getting to sleep." "It's not THAT bad!" Visconti indicated that the next single will be a bit more of a banger (a new "Little Wonder" with any luck) and also talked some guff (although not as much guff as this guy) about the meaning behind the dubious cover art, which we assumed was someone's photoshop joke at first.
