China’s Ministry of Culture banned games consoles in 2000 to protect the mental and physical development of the country’s youth. However, this led to a profitable black-market trade in the illegal commodities. Youngsters were also undeterred by the restrictions, getting their gaming fix online or in arcades. Presumably, since China is the most populated country in the world, companies like Sony, Microsoft and others will be salivating to sell to this new and enormous emerging market.
