Like the seasonal swarms of flying ants and frying sunbathers, this year’s summer jams are now in full flow – and there can be fewer finer than Dakota Sixx & Isla Wolfe’s ‘I Got U’. Built on a muffled house thump, a tropical lilt and some dreamy synths, it’s an anthem to relationships of all kinds and is sure to get your endorphins flowing.

“I don’t usually make tunes that make me want to dance,” Isla Wolfe admits, “but whilst working on ‘I Got U’ we would constantly be getting down. I have always been a big fan of funky house, so it was so refreshing to have that as an influence for ‘I Got U’, it was such a pleasure to work with another female producer especially”.

Now the track has been blessed with a similarly uplifting video, which The Monitors is proud to present to you exclusively today. In keeping with the bedroom production vibe of the track, Dakota Sixx & Isla Wolfe asked friends and fans to submit clips that would mirror the message of the track. In essence this meant sharing images of those they loved and were loved by, including friends, lovers, relatives, pets, and, in one case, the man in the mirror. It’s the sort of set-up that would be cheesy if faked, but the genuine, irresistible warmth that the video exudes suits the track to a tee.

“We really wanted a music video that was full of love,” says Dakota Sixx, “rather than acting in front of a camera we wanted to collect as many videos from all over that just showed raw relationships, we were so pleased with how it turned out!”

No wonder. Dakota Sixx & Isla Wolfe’s I Got U EP is out now on The Sound Of Everything UK. Find it on Spotify, iTunes and SoundCloud.
